GIN IN BLOOM

6 – 8 pm, doors at 5:30
The North Dakota Museum of Art partners with Far North Spirits, a field-to-glass distillery in Hallock, MN, for the Annual Gin in Bloom (formerly Rye on the Rocks).
Gin in Bloom is a craft cocktail contest held in the Museum’s galleries featuring three different gin products by Far North Spirits.
Area bartenders compete for bragging rights with their original cocktail or classics with a twist. Guests sample each creation and vote in two categories – People’s Choice, the nights top award, and Most Original. A panel of judges award Judges’ Choice. Appetizers by area restaurants are included in the ticket price.

THE EVENING’S FEATURED GIN SELECTIONS

SOLVEIG GIN: Lush and verdant, like the fragrant prairie in early June after it rains. A uniquely lush and verdant gin distilled with 8 botanicals including red grapefruit, organic thyme and lavender. Offering a nose of citrus, pine cones and a hint of lavender, Solveig combines a creamy entry with an almost ethereal lightness on the palate. The gin shows exceptional balance in the mid-palate.

SOLVEIG ANNA’S GARDEN – LIMITED RELEASE Inspired by Great Grandma Anna’s garden at sunrise, our Seasonal Solveig is infused with hibiscus flower and distilled with farm fresh dill, lemon zest, and angelica. Herbaceous dill balanced by earthy angelica and the zip of fresh lemon. Complex and concentrated, this gin is crafted to add depth to spring’s long drinks.

GUSTAF: It’s is big and bold, yet surprisingly balanced Navy strength gin with 11 botanicals including lemon, cucumber, and fennel. Layered with, juniper and honeysuckle on the nose, Gustaf shows a trace of citrus akin to yuzu or lime. Spicy and expansive on the palate, it finishes with notes of white pepper and licorice, a zesty, lingering expression of earth and sea.
