Micah Bloom. Multifarious.

Currently on Display

According to the artist, “This collection of images represents my eclectic creative production throughout the past 15 -20 years. It includes works from various projects and series and loosely functions as a retrospective of my artistic output while living in North Dakota (2011 present). Multifarious includes works that were shown at the North Dakota Museum of Art as part of the Artist Makers Series (Codex, 2015), as well as works created during my McCanna House Artist-in-Residence Program (interventions, McCanna Collaborations.) Additionally, there are representations from my Radiosity series (sculptural works playing with reflected light and color) and my Bloomkin series (family collaborations that toured North Dakota galleries in 2024 – 2025). Lastly, a painting (laNDscape) created for the North Dakota Museum of Art’s upcoming Autumn Art Auction is featured in appreciation of my ongoing relationship with this critical arts institution.”

Micah Bloom is an artist and educator, teaching at Minot State University, Minot, ND. Bloom holds an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Iowa and has been selected for numerous artist–in–residence fellowships. His works have been published in literary and art journals, and he has shown work nationally and internationally, including private galleries in China and the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art. As the first artist of the Art Makers Series, at North Dakota Museum of Art, Bloom exhibited a multi-media project that centered around flood-dispersed books. This work, titled Codex, involved film, photography, and installation, and went on to be featured in other national venues. Married for 25 years, Micah and his wife, Sara, share four daughters and two sons, and they all love making things.
