Summer Art Camp
Summer Art Camp is a time for imaginations to run wild. Campers will have the time of their lives creating art and working alongside professional artists. Each week brings a different artist with new themes and projects.
Registration Process
Registration is ONLINE ONLY and
begins on Monday, April 16 at 9 am.
The registration button will take you to Active.com. You may wish to register with Active prior to camps opening. Camps will open through Active on Monday, April 16 at 9 am - you will not be able to see camps on Active until then.
All classes take place on the UND Campus at the Hughes Fine Arts Building Room 111.

2-Session Camps, 4 and 5
9:00 - 11:00 am or 1:00 - 3:00 pm

9:30 am - 3:00 pm
Members: $100 Non-members: $120
Household memberships are $50 a year, which allow families to receive Museum member rates to Summer Art Camps and other Museum benefits as well. Become a member before you register.

If you are interested in sponsoring a child in the way of a full or partial scholarship, please contact Matthew Anderson at education@ndmoa.com or 701.777.3599. Sponsors will be noted in Museum education publications. Donations are tax-deductible.

Providing scholarships to those in need of financial assistance.
Scholarships are limited, early applications are encouraged. To apply, please send a brief email explaining your need to Matthew Anderson at education@ndmoa.com.
Scholarships are partial and require some financial participation from the family.

Science meets Art! Use your imagination and engineering skills to create a world that literally jumps off the page… Pop-Up books. Design stories to fill the pages of your very own book.
Anna is a professional artist, art instructor, and North Dakotan. She has taught multiple adult and children’s art workshops for the past 15 years. She is currently an artist for the North Dakota Council on the Arts and a practicing artist. Anna believes everyone should have the opportunity to experience and create art.

We are going to draw and paint our hearts out! Delve into the joy and wonders of 2-D materials. Working from life and sketches you’ll develop your own body of art works during this one-week camp.
Mollie Douthit is a painter who resides in Grand Forks. She is a figurative painter who works on an intimate small scale. She has been the recipient of multiple international painting awards and was the 2017 Art Maker for the NDMOA’s Art Makers series, generously underwritten by Dr. William Wosick.

Turn make-believe into scenes with characters! Create your own fables, fairy tales, and fictions using methods and materials from the past and present. By the end of the week we’ll present our puppets and crank out a 3-act story.
Martha Keifenheim is an artist and art instructor who has taught children in Grand Forks through Artwise art classes, Girl Scout programs, and Summer Camps. She currently teaches art at Sacred Heart High School. Her favorite art mediums are paint, paper, and clay, and she is a fan of the Heart of the Beast puppet theater in Minneapolis.

Enjoy a summer camp where you can have fun crafting, singing, and learning sign language. Every art project will be related to a song. Every song will teach you some sign language!

You have two days to construct your own guitar from beginning to end! The guitar kits are high quality cardboard and wood construction. You get the pieces... now let’s put them together!
Ligia Feo de Drago is from Argentina. In her country, she worked as a music teacher in public schools and music academies and as a violist in numerous orchestras. Currently, she directs a violin and viola studio at Arioso Music Academy, plays in the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra, and teaches at Central High.

Explore some of the different styles and mediums used by Pablo Picasso. We’ll be creating drawings, paintings, collages, prints, and sculptures while investigating Picasso’s “Blue” and “Rose” periods.
Gabrielle Walberg is a recent visual arts graduate from the University of North Dakota. She is dedicated to working with many age groups, both academically and creatively. Gabrielle has a love for all art forms but especially enjoys painting, drawing, and printmaking.

Explore the city of New York, its landmarks, and the artists that lived and worked there. We’re going to design our own skyscrapers, look at Keith Haring’s graffiti, revamp the Statue of Liberty, and much more.
Sheila is committed to providing exceptional art experiences to the children of Grand Forks through her numerous classes and workshops at the Museum and in the community. You may also know her through the ArtWise “Artist in the Classroom” program where she is a favorite of students.

Adam, from England, earned his MFA at the University of North Dakota. Having made Grand Forks his second home, he is one of the best advocates for the arts in this community. Adam’s camps are so exciting there are no words for what we make — in fact, we often surprise ourselves by what we do!

Adventure through observation and memory by painting and drawing in the open air (plein air) and inner landscapes the way artists have done from past to present.
Pirjo Berg is an artist living in Grand Forks. She started painting as a child and got her BFA in the School of Art and Media in Tampere, Finland. She has been teaching painting at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle and the North Dakota Museum of Art. Now she is working with ArtWise.

PAYTON COLE

Campers will discover new ways to interpret and create art, make new friends, and have fun. You’ll learn about the Surrealists and how they used the power of their dreams to create fantastic images.
Payton Cole is a mixed media artist focusing on surrealistic themes within her artmaking practice. She recently earned a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the University of North Dakota. Currently she is showing work in the Midwest area and traveling for inspiration.
